Colour is
the design
The studio
LORENZ.OG is a sneaker designer and colourist working out of London. The practice sits between footwear design and colour science — taking established silhouettes and rebuilding them through graded dye, material contrast and deliberately narrow production runs.
Most footwear collaborations start with a silhouette and add colour at the end. This one runs the other way.
Every project begins with dye trials on the final material rather than swatches or screen renders. A mesh, a nubuck and a leather panel will each take the same dye differently, and that difference is the point — it is what makes a gradient read as one continuous move across a shoe built from five different materials.
From there the work is panel-by-panel specification, two to four rounds of sampling with the factory, and a fixed production run. Nothing is restocked. When a release closes it moves to the archive and stays there.
Collaborations to date include Nike, ASICS and Umbro, alongside seasonal colour direction for in-line ranges. Projects are taken on one at a time, from first dye trial through to the drop going live.
